Discover the stories behind the traditional shops and specialists on Jermyn Street in St James’s on this two-hour tour. The tailors, cheesemongers, perfumiers and milliners have each had their moment in the spotlight over the years, and tour guide Dr Cindy Lawford will introduce you to the shopkeepers and their products. Between visits to the shops, Cindy recounts colourful tales of Henry Jermyn, Ian Fleming, Isaac Newton, Rosa Lewis and Aleister Crowley, as well as delving into gay culture and the lives of spies who thrived in St James’s lost restaurants, hotels and Turkish baths. Art galleries, the Jermyn Street Theatre and St James's Church all get a visit, too. A shorter version of the walk is available on Tuesday lunchtimes, and the £10 ticket price includes a sandwich. Booking recommended.
