At some point, every Londoner has glanced in the window of a Mayfair commercial gallery and found it completely empty save for a lone curator surrounded by impossibly expensive art on impossibly white wall. If you imagine the exact opposite experience, you’ll probably come pretty close to The Art Car Boot Fair. London’s most madcap and entrancing art fairs returns to live events this weekend for an afternoon fair at King’s Cross’s Cubitts Square.
A stellar line-up of art world elites including Bob & Roberta Smith, Ian Rankin, Pam Hogg, Jake Chapman and Sara Pope will be flogging their work from stalls and car boots for an absolute song. The theme for this one is ‘electric’, so you can expect some electrically-powered art, as well as electrifying entertainment. There’ll be artist interactions with the ever-popular Renaissance Selfies and live portrait drawing from Wilfrid Wood, plus appearances from Mr Bingo, the Misfortune Teller, live music and spoken word performances, games, raffles, and another chance to take a punt on the sell-out Secret Art Casino. It’s gonna be mega!
