Spoken word artist and storytelling crew The Crick Crack Club will be bringing the Japanese folk phenomenon of Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai to London – a tradition in the Edo period when 100 flickering candles were lit and 100 supernatural tales were told after dark. Tradition has it that after each teller finished their story, a candle would be extinguished, plunging the room, by small degrees, into darkness and calling in ghosts. Join this tribute to the unnerving custom as superlative storytellers Tim Ralphs and Sarah-Liisa Wilkinson tell haunting tales from around the world among ever-encroaching shadows.
