To celebrate the tenth year of Kids' Choir, the Thames Festival Trust has commissioned singer-songwriter Sam Lee to write and arrange a song cycle. Titled 'Song for the Thames Silkie', the piece will be performed by 600 London school children at the Scoop on September 9. The work draws on themes of the ancient tale of the Silkie of Sulle Skerrie, using instruments developed in collaboration with the Royal College of Music's Junior Department and the Junk Orchestra to recreate the sounds of the river.
