Time Out says

If, like we did, you harbour a secret hope that terrariums have something to do with terrapins, unfortunately you’re going to a be a little disappointed. But only a little though, because the teeny, self-contained gardens that are taking London (and Instagram) by storm are utterly charming and – with the right ingredients – wonderfully easy to put together.

Hackney florist Grace and Thorn runs monthly workshops in which you’ll learn all you need to know about designing a tiny landscaped garden, leaving with your very own creation at the end of the night. All materials are provided and you get your pick of their lovely succulents to fill your glass globe with (if you’re as indecisive as us the choosing will take longer than the planting).

This isn’t a challenging hobby. Making it pretty is harder than the construction and you’ll find yourself becoming fond of the cute plants even if your design skills are lacking. But if you’re the Pinterest type and tempted to do some DIY planting it’s worth noting that buying all the bits and pieces required will cost loads – probably more than this class does. And we can only imagine the funny looks your postman will give you when you start ordering cactus soil online. Put yourself in the green-fingered hands of Grace and Thorn and enjoy this simple and satisfying evening of playing god.
