Time Out says

See the annual Swan Upping by bike – a custom that's been carried out along The Thames since the twelfth century. Six traditional rowing skiffs head out on the water and cries of 'all up' can be heard when a family of swans is spotted. The swans are then given a health check and an identification number and released again. The bike tour will follow the boats' route along the river, finishing up with a pub lunch just a short distance from Staines train station. This ride is suitable for ages 16+ and will meet outside Hampton Court station at 9.30am.
