Recognised as one of the finest examples of Georgian Gothic revival architecture, buildings don't come much more bombastic than the striking chalk-white pile that is Strawberry Hill House. The unique building was created by Horace Walpole, an intriguing antiquarian who created the Gothic novel with his book ‘The Castle of Otranto’. As well as giving visitors a chance to explore the breathtaking building after dark, this Pride-month tour attempt will unpick the Walpole’s sexuality by investigating the correspondence between his network of friends and acquaintances, and how this might inform our interpretation of his house and collection.
