The museum's summer holiday activities run throughout August, with a range of half-day and whole day workshops aimed at children aged 7+. These all draw on the museum's excellent collection in inventive ways, beginning with a timely exploration of Olympics wreaths and medals in which children can make their own versions to take home (Aug 1) and a look at light and the different effects that can be achieved with it, before making a lightbox (Aug 7). Later in the month, children can learn how to make salt dough then use it to create a model inspired by the museum's carvings and casts (Aug 22), or make a miniature sarcophagus and model mummy (Aug 30 and 31).
