Immersive yourself in two days of inspirational Arab literature as the British Library hosts Shubbak Festival – London’s festival of contemporary Arab culture, which grew from the emergence of the Arab Spring in 2011. There’ll be reading, panels, debates and themed sessions exploring current issues facing Arab literature across the weekend, including Syrian British writer Robin Yassin-Kassab hosting a discussion about what it means to be a literary activist, an exploration of LGBT+ character and narratives in Arab literature and an exploration of post-revolutionary Egyptian dystopias.
