To combat Black Monday (the third Monday in January, which been deemed the most depressing day of the year), and to get readers on track for 2014, Vintage Books are launching the Shelf Help Sessions: 12 Reasons to Feel Better. Each month has been assigned a book focusing on physical, mental or spiritual health. Titles include Richard Mabey’s Nature Cure, Julian Barnes’ Nothing To Be Frightened Of and John Williams’ belated literary success Stoner. To accompany the list Vintage have invited six of the authors included to offer additional insight and support at talks through out the year. Stephen Grosz and Jeanette Winterson will kick start the positive feelings on Monday January 13.
