Every year, the Pride in London parade weaves its way through central London, celebrating our city’s LGBTQI+ community. But the parade is just the start – the fun keeps going all over the city. This year, head to Brixton for We Party Pride at Electric Brixton, where you can expect dancing, drag queens and top DJs until late.

Taking over London’s iconic Alexandra Palace in north London, this one-day festival has something for everyone. Music artists include Artful Dodger, The Go! Team and Soul II Soul, as well as comedy from Simon Amstell, Chloe Petts and Sophie Duker on the fringe stage. There will also be great food and drink, and excellent panoramic views over the city.

When the temperatures start rising, you’re going to want to cool off, stat. Thankfully, there are loads of great outdoor swimming spots in the capital. Go for a dip in the 23-acre West Reservoir Centre, a peaceful oasis in Stoke Newington, or head south to the Beckenham Place Park Swimming Lake, which was created in the 1800s and has recently been reopened. Want to make a splash in central London? Try the Serpentine Lido in Hyde Park. For a large chunk of the year, it’s only open to members, but from June to September, everyone’s welcome for a dip, and then enjoying a refreshing drink afterwards.

As far as gig venues go, Somerset House is a pretty amazing spot to see some live music. Every year, the Somerset House Summer Series offers the chance to watch brilliant artists do their thing on the outdoor stage at this iconic venue. Don’t miss female South African DJ-producer DBN Gogo performing on 13 July. She’s on a mission to put Amapiano, a relatively new genre of house music that emerged from South Africa, in the spotlight.

You might have done life drawing before, but have you ever done neon life drawing? That’s the USP of Neon Naked Life Drawing, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Using a mix of life models, UV light and reactive body paints, these classes offer a fun twist on life drawing. There will be a tutor to guide you and materials are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own, too.

Sick of buying limp lettuce and flavourless tomatoes from your local supermarket? Maybe it’s time to try growing your own, instead. The Calthorpe Community Garden in King’s Cross offers monthly workshops where you can learn all about sewing seeds, growing food and using natural resources rather than chemicals. Spaces are limited, so register your interest if you’re keen. Alternatively, you can volunteer at places like the Wolves Lane Centre in Haringey or Growing Communities in Hackney, where the vibe is all about community, sustainability and developing your growing skills.
