This sponsored sleep-in takes place beneath Christ Church Spitalfields in its iconic Hawksmoor-designed crypt. In 1965 the Rector first opened the doors of the crypt to shelter homeless alcoholics, 50 years later the doors are opening once more for an evening of stories from Spitalfield's past. The storytelling will be followed by a sleep over on the crypts cold hard floor to raise awareness and funds for The Spitalfields Crypt Trust. Storytellers include authors Alan Gilbey and Johann Hari and Stefan Dickers from the Bishopsgate Institute. The crypt will also be welcoming a special royal visitor during the evening (fingers crossed for Her Maj and the corgis taking a nap on the flagstones). Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £300.
