One of the best in London’s thriving film club scene, 'Science Fiction Theatre' offers leftfield obscurities at reasonable prices. Watch a screening of the 1990 version of Margret Atwood's 'The Handmaid's Tale', set in the Republic of Gilead, a right-wing totalitarian state where women are subjugated and powerless. Before the film, Dr Caroline Edwards, senior lecturer in modern and contemporary literature at Birkbeck, University of London, will consider the impact of Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel in the context of Hulu's TV adaptation and the Trump administration.
