Time Out says

Part of a vigorous campaign by the Spitalfields Trust to stop British Land developing Norton Folgate almost out of existence, ace local blogger The Gentle Author of Spitalfields Life has put together an exhibition in the atmospheric surrounds of Dennis Severs' House.

The exhibition will explain the history and culture of Norton Folgate, with one of Adam Dant's marvellous maps as its centrepiece. There will also be space given to explaining the Trust's alternative scheme, devised by architect John Burrell.

The Trust (which was formed in 1977 to oppose plans by, yes, British Land to redevelop Elder Street) argues that 70 per cent of the buildings on the proposed British Land site that fall within the Elder Street Conservation Area will be obliterated - and further that the 13-storey office development will permanently disfigure this historic area.

There will be a launch event, hosted by Dan Cruickshank and Jonathan Pryce, at 6pm on Feb 12, as well as various events in support of the campaign and exhibition - expect Christopher Marlowe, Dickens and Betjeman to be celebrated.
