Probably the most exciting facility left to London in the wake of the 2012 Olympics is the White Water Centre at Lee Valley. As part of CLIC Sargent's series of events aimed at raising adrenalin levels as well as money (in July fundraisers can abseil the ArcelorMittal Orbit), the charity has arranged for the centre’s rapids to stay open after dark for an evening of wetsuits, splashing and furious paddling under the stars. Teams of nine will be provided with full kit and set off to tackle the Olympic course. Each group will compete four to six times and each race will be timed, with the winning team taking home the converted CLIC Sargent Cup. Registration fee for each team is £180 and each member is asked to raise a minimum of £150. Smaller groups and individuals can get in contact with the charity and arrange to join forces to form a boat-full. The 7pm and 8pm time slot have already sold out so book fast if you want to take part.
