The last time we saw Richard Forbes’ seriously impressive choral collective we ended up raucously belting out a Spice Girls number alongside, we think, every other person in the room. It was quite a night, and a testament to the group’s inclusive approach – everybody is welcome to join, and audience participation is thoroughly encouraged.
It looks like the word’s got out since then (multiple Radio 2 endorsements will do that) and their next gig looks set to be another banger, with rock anthems alongside disco’s finest. Does rock work with disco? Should headbangers be seen next to snake-hipped snaps? Who cares! All we know is that this is going to be a lot of fun. These guys are so, so good.
RockDisco is at eartH Hackney on Sunday June 23 at 7pm. ‘R’ Voices will then open the main stage at Ally Pally’s Kaleidoscope Festival (July 13), alongside Soul II Soul and Ministry of Sound.
