Sometimes poetry gets a bad rap, but not in the case of prize-winning poet (and all-round cool guy) Inua Ellams. He’s the author of several poetry collections as well as the founder of R.A.P (rhythm and poetry party), which mashes hip hop and poetry to leave a pulsing linguistic fire in your belly.
This year, R.A.P are closing lit-fest Poet in the City, with an evening of poems curated by Ellams and kick-ass poet Theresa Lola. The stuff you’ll hear is all inspired by Kanye’s iconic The College Dropout album (aka Kanye’s best one) and there’s a live DJ as well as a load of other amazing poets, too. Expect a punchy, nostalgic evening. Find out more on the King's Place website.
