Tights and ruffs are optional on these explorations of the darker side of Queen Elizabeth's reign. Meeting outside the Black Friar pub, walkers will be guided along Fleet Street to Temple, past buildings that still survive from the time of Gloriana. On the way they’ll hear tales about the paranoid London of the late sixteenth century, when religious fanatics, actors and nobility indulged in treasonable activities while an army of spies operated in the shadows, working to keep the queen safe from both real and imagined threats. Tickets can be brought online in advance.
