Show your appreciation for the sweet sound of tinkling ivories as the annual Piano Day celebrations return. The festival, founded by Nils Frahm, always takes place on the 88th day of the year (the same as the number of keys on the instrument) so this year March 29 is the lucky day.
Some of the capital's best-loved cultural venues will be throwing special events to mark the day. Highlights include a special event at the Barbican Centre’s Milton Court featuring performances from German pianist Florian Christl, Ukrainian pianist Marina Baranova who has reinterpreted Debussy compositions and musican Poppy Ackroyd, and Salder's Wells 'Neon Dance' set to a soundtrack of music composed by Frahm himself. While visitors to St Pancras International can bag free piano lessons on the station's pianos and see live performances from Laurel, Joe Armon Jones, ARK, and the West End Musical Choir.
