There's a suitably sweet tale attached to this royal-icing-white stucco building. Commissioned by Prince John Zylinski, the house is based on a palace in Poland, which was owned by Zylinski's grandmother but had been burnt to the ground during WWII. Brought up on stories of this Polish Palace, Zylinski promised his grandmother that he would rebuild the palace and, after seven years of building work, the White House was completed in 2009. Its Louis XV-style interiors, including the salon, library and Forest Room are an opulent blend of marble, gold cornicing and crystal chandeliers. Tours are taking place on a first-come, first-served basis as part of Open House London.
