More often associated with cults and possessive weirdos, the technique of 'love bombing' – showering a subject with boundless love, positivity and compliments to weaken their resistance to your message – has now been rescued by author and psychologist Oliver James as a child-rearing tool. James claims it has the potential to remedy issues from clingyness and sleeping problems to violence and even ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and he'll be outlining his technique in a talk to accompany the launch of his book of the same title this week. Tickets are free, but must be reserved by emailing events@foyles.co.uk.
