‘Waterloo Sunset’, ‘Baker Street’, ‘Guns of Brixton’ – London has forever been a musicians’ muse, and now the capital’s architecture is getting in on the act. Musicity is a new project from BBC Radio 3’s Nick Luscombe bringing bricks and mortar to musical life. It invites London-based musicians to choose their favorite building in the city and create an original track inspired by the place. Musicity London is focusing on Southwark, where seven buildings have been picked for the musical treatment including Canada Water Bus Station by Moses Boyd, The Finnish Church by Stick in the Wheel, Brorough Market by Throwing Shade and Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre by patten. All the tracks can be streamed for free on the Musicity app at the location that inspired the piece. Hear them all by joining a free listening tours between the buildings or one of the evenings of talks about the tracks at Peckham Pelican and Deli Felice. Find out more here.
