Tove Jansson was born 100 years ago this August. The Finnish author created the Moomins, the big-faced white creatures with whom she populated her children’s books which have built up a cult following since the first story was published in 1945. To celebrate the centenary of Jansson's birth, Covent Garden will host a weekend of readings, music, face painting and even a Moomin puppet appearance (Sat, 5pm). The event is free.
