The UK’s first dedicated festival of Muslim culture, literature and ideas, MFest, is hitting up the British Library for a weekend of poetry readings, workshops, performances, discussions, after parties and family events all celebrating the richness and plurality of Muslim cultures and exploing contemporary Muslim thought. The bill includes a keynote speech from novelist and political commentator Elif Shafak and music from Reem Kelani. Other noteworthy speakers include journalist Razia Iqbal, BAME in Publishing co-founder Sarah Shaffi, former president of the National Union of Students Malia Bouattia, grime artist Saskilla, cultural critic Ziauddin Sardar, and dancer Akram Khan.
