Time Out says

Between 1921 and 2010, Maple Road Market was a community hub in Penge supplying locals with cupboard essentials and fresh produce. Generations of families set up stalls there and it was the place for a meet-up and chit-chat. But, due to competition from the big supermarkets, the neighbourhood bazaar was forced to shut and all attempts to rejuvenate it have been unsuccessful... until now. Yep, the local hero is making the mother of all comebacks.

Thanks to funding from Bromley Council, the independent market will be making a monthly appearance at Melvin Community Hall. Led by volunteers, you’ll find over 30 stalls across three halls selling everything from hot food, and deli delicacies to illustration prints, crafts and homeware from a whole load of talented makers. A family affair, there’ll also be activities to keep little hands occupied. Look out for tasty chunks of dairy from The Cheese Collective, handmade children’s from Penge-based business Bonny_and_Frey and lip-smacking pastries from South London bakery bunheadbakes.
