For a whole world of new activities, head down to King's Cross. Specifically, Samsung KX in Coal Drops Yard. Where, whatever the weather, you'll be able to find endless new things to do. Whether you want to rock up and have a go at something you like but don't have the equipment for, or have a tutorial on something completely new. It's up to you! But given all events are just a fiver, it's well worth a look. Events range from Coding to Kintsugi, Kokedama to Mosaics.

Here's a little look at those events and lessons, if you're interested...

Samsung KX

When is it?

6.30pm-7.30pm on September 23

You’ve ticked off terrariums, snapped up some succulents and even copped a cheese plant when you went to Columbia Road market. But have you heard of Kokedama? It's Japanese like many trendy interior style bits are. Basically right, these arrangements are going to be the next trend to take over your Instagram. You can get your hands busy and be ahead of the curve with one of these Kokedama creative workshops. They'll be run by London-based flower creatives Jar and Fern. Soon enough your moss ball will be looking like a work of art, and yes, you get to take it home. Enjoy!

When is it? 6:30pm-7:30pm, October 8

Mosaics are smashing bits of art. Well, smashed bits of art. Anyway, at this event with Art4Space over at Samsung KX, you’ll be able to flex your creative side by making a mosaic art piece to take home. The expert tutors will guide you through the basics of mosaics (a neat little phrase in itself) meaning you can get a sense of how these jigsaw-y beauties are made. From there, they’ll give you a load of dazzling materials from which to make your own masterpiece (of pieces)! It's remarkably satisfying too, like a really whacky jigsaw.

When is it? 6:30-7:30pm, October 11

The technique known as Kintsugi has been around for a long time. The old tale is that Ashikaga Yoshimasa, the eighth shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate, broke his favourite mug – so he sent it to China to be repaired. It came back whole, usable, still his favourite. Just showing a couple cracks here and there, all neatly repaired with a decorative (and tea-tight, presumably heat-resistant) glue (made with gold, because royal-tea). Since then people haven’t had to be quite as sad about smashing up their favourite porcelain. Whether it’s the vase the cat knocked off the shelf, or the plate that slid off the drying rack, this workshop will teach you not only how to repair your precious object, but also how to embrace the imperfections and take the time to be slow, methodical and precise while mending something you love.

When is it?

6pm-8pm on October 26, November 23 and December 14

Coding is the future. Ask a six year old, they’ll be like, yeah I can already code, shall I fix you up a website for your side hustle? It’ll cost you a million pounds. And you’ll have to say yes, won’t you, because you don't know how to code. Well, now you can take the power back, if you join this coding class held at Samsung KX. In the two-hour tutorial, you’ll be able to learn your way around HTML and CSS (two of the main coding languages) and you’ll end up writing your first line of code. They’re basically languages, and this will give you the grammar to go and learn even more coding in the future. That’ll shut up your clever niece, won’t it.
