Time Out says

Welcome in the new year with some traditional Welsh festivities at the fourth London 'Mari Lwyd' (Grey Mare) new year's celebration. In this ancient Welsh tradition, originally Mari (a decorated horse's skull) and her party would visit people's houses by winning witty improvised sing-offs with local families who would then offer the party food, drink and best wishes for the new year. At this event, organised by London ceilidh band The Spring Heeled Jacks, you'll be visiting pubs rather than houses, where you can join in singalongs and end the night with some Welsh twmpath, or ceilidh dancing.

Timings: 7pm The Boot, WC1H 8BS; 7.45pm The Harrison, WC1H 8JF; 8.30pm Calthorpe Arms, WC1X 8JR; 9pm London Welsh Centre, WC1X 8UE.
