The Dutch have celebrated the birthday of their monarch with a national holiday since 1890, when Princess Wilhelmina became queen. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands has reigned Europe's flattest country since 2013 so Koningsdag is currently celebrated on his birthday, April 27, with all of the fun themed around the country's national colour, orange. De Hems will be offering a 20% discount off all Dutch food for the occasion, as well as Dutch football games and film screenings on Sunday. A DJ and and live band will keep the crowd partying until late on the day itself, with the pub open until 2am. Orange clothes highly recommended. No booking required.
