Time Out says

Ceilidhs: not easy to spell, fantastically fun to attend. On the third Friday of every month, charming cultural venue Cecil Sharp House in Camden Town hosts an energetic three-hour dance party, with a different live band and caller every time.

Never heard of a ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee)? It’s a dance party to traditional folk music, guided by a caller who explains each dance before you do it, and provides helpful instructions throughout. Knees Up leans towards the English ceilidh style and caters towards absolute beginners right through to experienced dancers – its social nature means it’s ideal for singles as much as groups of friends, families and couples. The music may be traditional, but there’s nothing sedate about these parties; expect to get hot and wear comfy dancing shoes (oh, and there’s a bar, too!).

October's band is The Folk Camps Party Band, with calling by Ben Moss.

Book tickets in advance to avoid missing out, some tickets available on the door.
