In 1968, Jaime Gili’s father left Francoist Spain for a new life in the cultural whirlwind that was Venezuela. In 2022, Gili has distorted Cecilia Brunson Projects’ main gallery to explore how the inheritance of Venezuelan modernism has influenced and evolved his own artistic practice. Expect giant, irregular-shaped canvases the viewer can walk among, and tucked-away, miniature squares of cardboard experimentation.
