1. Rest and relaxation

You’ve been working too hard. You need a little screen break, some time to rest the tension in your shoulders and just relax. That’s where the spa comes in. Thermae Bath Spa is an ancient Roman spa from natural hot springs which average a perfect 45 ºC temperature for soaking. Located just half a mile away, DoubleTree by Hilton Bath is your perfect base from which to enjoy river and city views. Bringing your pup with you? Good news, this hotel is dog-friendly!

Travel further afield and you can spend the day immersing yourself in art (without having to book in advance) at the Manchester Art Gallery, followed by a meal at a wonderfully cosy restaurant like the Bay Horse Tavern. Once you’re feeling comfortably stuffed, retire to Hilton Manchester Deansgate, a 23-storey hotel in the heart of the city centre. Here, you have access to the stunning Cloud 23 bar (the city’s highest), as well as a fitness centre, indoor pool, sauna and steam room.

Staycations are also another great way to relax and unwind. Why don’t you treat yourself to a holiday in London with a luxurious spa staycation at Hilton London Syon Park in the 200-acre Syon Park Estate? On-site you have the adults-only Kallima Club & Spa, where you can swim, steam or exercise away the stress. There are also several high-end face and body treatments that use specially designed natural premium products.

2. A visit to the seaside

Blow off the cobwebs and book an invigorating trip to the seaside. Because really, is there anything better than being pelted with a brisk, salty wind of the seaside? Definitely not. If you’re the exercising type, you won't have to plan ahead to hire a bike and ride the Undercliff Walk by the sea in Brighton. You’ll follow the coastline through town, along to Hove, where you’ll find waves lashing against the chalk cliffs. DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole is the perfect place to stay after, as it sits right in the town centre with easy access to destinations like The Lanes, Brighton Palace Pier and the Royal Pavilion.

Bournemouth is known for its coastal resort feel, stunning coastlines and Victorian architecture in the town centre. So, if you’re in the mood for a classic seaside hol, get to the charming Hengistbury Head Beach, for a beachfront walk followed by a classic 99 cone. And when the sun goes down, the Library of Liquor cocktail bar is sure to accommodate. As far as hotels go, Hilton Bournemouth is a premium, eco-friendly spot offering an on-site spa, a rooftop bar, and luxury rooms. There’s also Hampton by Hilton Bournemouth, too, so you’re spoiled for choice!

And of course, if we’re talking seaside we have to mention Devon. Set sail on a beautiful boat trip from the harbour and admire all that the English Riviera has to offer. After that, pull into a cosy pub for a proper autumnal dinner (we’re talking pie and mash, fish and chips – the good stuff) before heading back to Hampton by Hilton Torquay which boasts some pretty great views of the seaside. Plus, you’re just a five-minute walk from Torquay Marina. Princess Pier and Torquay Beach for any spontaneous adventures the following day.

3. Escape to the countryside

Countryside trips are perfect around this time of year, with cosy pubs, bracing walks and beautiful scenery all guaranteed. Book a stay at Hilton Cobham, which sits on an impressive 27 acres, perfect for beautiful country walks. Nature lovers can also visit RHS Wisley Gardens, and in Cobham, there are some fantastic Sunday pub options including Fairmile, a seventeenth-century coaching inn.

The Cotswolds is known for its chocolate box villages and gorgeous countryside walks. Book a trip here and you’ll find Hilton Puckrup Hall, Tewkesbury, a Tewkesbury hotel that’s just on the edge of all the action. It offers access to the neighbouring golf course, wellness features, an indoor pool and a fitness centre. So you can stay as active or sedentary as you desire.

Hilton St George’s Park, Burton upon Trent is known for its fantastic health club and spa, so treat yourself to a chilled-out countryside stay topped off with luxurious facials, massages and body wraps. But before you get into full relaxation mode, make the most of being so close to the National Forest and head out on some seriously beautiful walks, knowing that you’ve got plenty to look forward to once you’re back.
