The famous amateur rowing race on the banks of the Thames – inaugurated in 1839 – is back with a splash on June 28-July 2 2017. As well as watching all the boating action and admiring many a snazzy blazer, visitors to the Henley Royal Regatta, which sprawls over five days, have plenty of mingling opportunities. While the Stewards Enclosure is reserved for members (current waiting list: a casual 10 years), the Regatta Enclosure is open to the public, supporters and competitors alike, with admission badges available from £23 (free for accompanied children under 14). Social butterflies looking for a lavish day out can book to head to the exclusive Temple Island, home to the Chinawhite Enclosure. Featuring five bars, DJs, street food, beauty pop-ups and more, the party carries on 'til midnight on Friday June 30 and Saturday July 1. Tickets start at £35, and can be bought here.
