Looking for a festival unlike any you’ve ever been to? What about a festival with minimal environmental impact but maximum feel-good vibes? SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia could just be the event for you. Taking place at Formentera, the smallest of Spain’s Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea, this two-day event is filled with music, unique food, good beer and adventure, all in an idyllic setting.

SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia Festival takes place on October 4-6, offering tickets to just 350 guests., the festival combines a secret line-up, gastronomy and Estrella Galicia beer (the authentic Spanish beer) against a backdrop of incredible nature – which you are actively encouraged to explore. Oh, and it is the only TRUE Zero Waste Platinum-certified festival in the world.

This festival is not just about the music, and it's not just about the food either. Here, it’s all about the experience. SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia Festival keeps its programme of performances and activities under wraps until the start of the festival. Yes, it’s secretive and intriguing, but it’s also brilliantly exciting. In previous years, acts include Ibibio Sound Machine, Los Bitchos, Grove and more – all impressive, up-and-coming artists that demonstrate the festival’s expertise. An expertise which has seen SON Estrella Galicia run acclaimed micro-festivals in Hackney and Brighton over the past 18 months.

Beyond the music, you’ve got traditional Mediterranean cuisine from a Michelin-starred chef to get excited about. Paired with Estrella Galicia’s finest beer – which has been brewed in Galicia since 1906 – the menus here showcase interesting local flavours while also carrying on the festival’s message of raising awareness for the environment and preserving marine life. There will also be guided walking trails around the island, and plenty of surprise shows around the festival.

This zero-waste festival has been advocating for responsible tourism and the protection of Posidonia, (the marine plant responsible for oxygenating the water, which gives it its characteristic turquoise blue colour) since its inception in 2017. And to help restore biodiversity, it collaborates with the Save Posidonia Project to promote the protection of fish, molluscs and crustaceans that rely on the plant to survive.

At its core, SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia Festival is all about living the experience, having a good time, appreciating great food and authentic Estrella Galicia beer, and celebrating the environment. Where else will you get to experience nature, music and culinary expertise like this, all in one place? In its last edition, the festival worked on various measures that led it to achieve an impressive waste diversion rate of 99.3 percent, a pretty impressive stat if you ask us.
