With its crimson-shaded walls and art deco fittings, Covent Garden’s beguiling Garden Cinema feels like the kind of place you might reasonably expect to be home to a ghost or two. It’s an atmospheric place to see some horror classics this spooky season, with screenings of Brian De Palma’s classic Stephen King adaptation Carrie, the original 1978 Halloween movie, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. The programme also encompasses a few more niche picks, including cult B-movie Carnival of Souls and rarely screened 80s gem Next of Kin. Younger film buffs can enjoy the gently monstrous Disney classic Monsters Inc at a series of pay-what-you-can screenings. We’d suggest arriving early and enjoying some liquid courage in the form of a cocktail from the lovely cinema bar.
