Most of us never thought we would qualify to take part in a world-record attempt, let alone a fitness-related one. But all you have to do to join British Military Fitness's attempt for the most people doing squat jumps simultaneously is pitch up at Wandsworth Common (along with 499 others) and do squat jumps…simultaneously. The best bit is that you only have to do it for one minute. If you're quite enjoying the exercise and want to keep going then you can stay and take part in a massive fitness class. The sessions take place outside whatever the weather: benefits including breathing fresh air, getting a proper dose of vitamin D from sunlight, boosting serotonin and getting shouted at by hardy types in camouflage seem to outweigh the misery of getting drizzled on. After the workout The Hope pub opposite the common will be opening its doors to welcome in hungry participants for breakfast.
