Rio officially has two years to recover from doing a grand old job of hosting the football before they get stuck into international sport all over again, because the Great British Carnival marks the two-year anniversary of London's own Olympic Opening Ceremony. A lively (and probably noisy) mix of carnival arts will flood the Olympic park for a nine-hour festival of fun that culminates in a twilight performance of 'The Carnival of the Animals', which will feature 300 dancers, huge magical creatures and amazing light shows. During the day visitors can take part in music and choreography workshops, join a pop-up parade, listen to young musicians, rappers and poets and celebrate the spirit of Brazil. All activities are free.
