In this exhibition of prints, drawings, videos and objects, artist-in-residence Eleanor Morgan explores the boundary between living and non-living materials and looks at the way minerals become living things. Her work is inspired by the Grant Museum’s collection of intricate glass sponges – animals that are formed of 90 percent silica. The conversations the artist had with biologists, chemists, geologists and engineers during her research have also informed the pieces, which offer an alternative approach to the challenge of re-animating a museum of dead creatures.
