Flykick is a slick boutique fitness studio in Euston with workouts that focus on mind, body and kickboxing. If you’re the type of person who gets bored and starts to think about dinner 45 minutes into a session, the classes here could be perfect for you. They incorporate high-intensity training, meditation and boxing into a full-body workout, and they chop and change a lot – so much so that you’ve no time to think about getting distracted.
The hour-long signature class is divided into stages: a (challenging) warm-up, some intense training, then recovery, core-work, and finally, kickboxing – the fun part. Boxing bags line the walls of the studio and friendly teachers show you the correct techniques, so you pummel and kick the bags safely for 20 minutes. The lights go down, the music is pumping, and you can let all your anger out before the meditative recovery session begins.
Classes can be quite expensive (you have to pay a small fee to rent boxing gloves and inners if you don’t have your own) but in short, Flykick is a fun, motivating experience that makes you feel like a proper badass. The studio is polished, modern and equipped with great changing rooms and showers. When I got home my arms were so sore I could barely lift them to wash my hair. That's all you want from a workout, isn’t it?
