This nationwide celebration comprises around 1,000 events, with around 30 taking place in London, most of them free. There’s something for most ages and interests; highlights include an organ recital and tour of the Union Chapel, a guided walk along the Tower of London beach and a family open day at Billingsgate Roman House and Baths. A community dig will take place in Clerkenwell (July 18-25), with places allocated through a competition on The Charterhouse's website. See the Archeology Festival website for the full listings, age suitability and booking requirements.
