To mark the centenary of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance Expedition (1914-1917), the Royal Geographical Society have digitalised images from fragile glass plates housed in their collection, documenting the epic survival story of the explorer and his men. The images, never before seen by the public were saved by Shackleton and expedition photographer Frank Hurley after the Endurance sank into the sea ice of Antarctica in 1915.
