The team at Barts Pathology Museum are putting its ghoulish collection of 5000 anatomical specimens to good use. The Museum is hosting an eighteenth-century-salon-style discussion on morality, mourning, death and dying and their resonating effects on culture and history. The three days will be loosely based around the themes of Ante Mortem (before death), Peri Mortem (around the time of death), and Post Mortem (after death). Using examples from the Museum's collection speakers will include Dr David J. Wilkinson, on the history of resuscitation, Dr Anastasia Tsaliki, on unusual burial practices and Dr Marianne Hamel, who will discuss how medical examiners determine cause and manner of death, in contrast to media portrayals of forensic pathology.
