This year's Croonian Lecture (one of the leading lectures in biological science which dates back to 1736) is given by Professor Nicholas Davies and focusses on the cuckoo's ability to trick other species of bird into caring for their young. Davies will cover a number of field experiments and genetic studies which identify the host bird's defences, and will also explain the varied guises of female cuckoos and the begging technique employed by their chicks. Seats are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
