With African athletes set for a haul of medals in the Games, the Africa Centre could well be the place to watch them do it. Alongside Games screenings though will be a wealth of cultural events under the umbrella of Africa Salon, including film, plays, music, crafts, dance, literary events and food. A series of talks, entitled Border Crossings, begins on Sat 4 at 4pm with Eugene Skeef on music and politics. Other talks include one by and about exiled Saharawi women (5 Aug), and a group discussion between Malawian playwright and poet Jack Mapanje and the company performing 'And Crocodiles Are Hungry at Night', the plays based on Mapanje's memoirs (Tue 7 Aug).
