City envy: We want Barcelona’s painting parties

Art and alcohol are an excellent mix, if the popularity of Barcelona’s latest craze – painting parties – is anything to go by. Locals and visitors are unleashing their creative sides like no-one’s business at Arte Bar, which recently opened in the Spanish city. And it’s a novel concept: participants, who can attend alone or in groups, choose a session from the calendar according to which famous painting they’d like to recreate. Then an instructor guides them through the process step-by-step. Oh, and while this is going on, they’re plied with booze, booze and more booze. At the end of the night, everyone goes home with their very own masterpiece – though that may be the beer goggles talking.
