The long-standing Carrom and drinks stall that used to pitch up at Sunday Up Market has now moved into two marquees on Brick Lane, set up outside building numbers 174-180. Suitable for all ages, participants will have the opportunity to play – or learn to play – the Asian board game Carrom for free every Sunday. For those of you who don't know, Carrom originates from South Asia and is vaguely similar to billiards, in the sense you have to pocket the pieces. The aim is to pocket your nine 'Carrom men' and queen, before your opponent, by flicking the draught-like pieces with your fingers.
If you work up a sweat on the boards, Carrom Paul will be on hand with organic lassis, shakes and fruit juices from, as well as Masala chai and Monsooned Malabar coffee. Plus, the Brick Lane chess master will be playing 3-4 people at a time. For further details, email carrromshop1001@hotmail.co.uk.
