Set in 1979 rural America as it reels from a recession and political unrest, the similarities between then and now are compelling particularly with the recent American presidential election.

The cast is led by Ed Harris, a five time Oscar Nominee and Golden Globe winner. Harris is a giant of the American film industry and recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Joining Harris and making his West End debut is Jeremy Irvine (Steven Spielberg’s War Horse, The Railway Man, Now is Good and forthcoming films Fallen, Billionaire Boys Club, and This Beautiful Fantastic).

One of the greatest and most significant American playwrights of his generation, Sam Shepard has penned over forty-five plays including; A Lie Of The Mind (New York Drama Critics Circle Award), True West and Fool For Love.

‘Shepard leaves no doubt that you are in the hands of a master-dramatist, capable of combining the naturalistic and the mythic, with rare panache.’

‘An American gothic masterwork. It is to the American theatre what Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming is to the British stage, the classic domestic drama’
