Imagine the most spectacular fireworks event you’ve ever seen, where the bangs are louder, the flashes are brighter and the oohs and aahs are just more heartfelt, and you’re somewhere near the epic that is Ally Pally’s Fireworks Festival. It’s back and bigger than ever this November, and it’s the most incredible celebration of pyrotechnics you can treat your eyes to.
At North London’s beloved Alexandra Palace on November 2 and 3, visitors will be treated to much more than a fireworks display (although that bit would be pretty amazing on its own). Hold your breath while Cirque Bijou perform daredevil feats of balance overhead accompanied by a live choir, fill your belly at more than 50 food stalls from StrEATlife, or head inside the Palace for the UK’s largest German bier festival with Queen and Take That tribute acts and stellar views of the fireworks display from the south terrace.
Before the sky’s lit up by the fireworks, an ice rink is on hand for whooshing round / toppling over on (and there will be an ice disco later on for those confident enough to dance in skates) plus there’s live music and DJs including Norman Jay MBE in the StrEATlife tent. Keeping kids entertained in the expanded Family Zone is a full-sized funfair, a special appearance from Horrible Histories and the Festival Tent complete with musical troubadours. Finally, you can gaze into the flames at an enormous bonfire, which will be burning both nights.
