Time Out says

Travel back in time and celebrate the life of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home founder Mary Tealby at this family-friendly day in south west London. A host of Victorian characters will be on hand to help visitors discover more about the charity originally known as the 'Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs', with tours of the kennels and cattery taking place throughout the day and a Museum of Wonder exploring what life would have been like for a stray dog in the 1860s. Pie and mash will be served at lunch and sugary treats for afters will be available in the sweet shop. A victoria sponge contest is scheduled and heaps of entertainment planned for little ones including vintage games, photo opportunities with Queen Victoria, and a live accordion player to dance to.
