Ayurvedic Man: Encounters with Indian Medicine

This exhibition is named after an 18th-century painting showing the organs and vessels of the male body according to classical Ayurveda. Ayurveda, then, is a centuries-old yet always-changing set of medical practices based on diagnostics and treatment premedicated on herbal medication, diet and massage. This show will attempt to highlight how the practice has interacted with, influenced and been influenced by western medicine and wellness culture, showcasing antiquated manuscripts, artwork and surgical tools.
