As part of this Art Fund charity initiative, Dulwich Picture Gallery have organised a three-mile walk through the former country estate of seventeeth-century actor and manager Edward Alleyn, with plenty of cultural activities along the way. The walk begins at Dulwich Picture Gallery, where you'll be told about the gallery's history, before heading off through parkland where historic buildings, trees and points of interest will be investigated. On your return, there will be food, a falconry display and free entry to the gallery.
Register to participate at www.artfund.org/artmiles: on paying your £20, you'll receive an Art Miles bag. The gallery is encouraging walkers to come in period dress - 'ruffs, cuffs, bodices and beards' - and to try to raise £50pp sponsorship. The walking starts at 11am, but register at the Dulwich Picture Gallery cafe from 10am.
Chiswick House, Osterley Park, and the William Morris Gallery are also organising Art Miles walks on the same day.
